Government of Canada 2022 Public Opinion Research on Accessibility

Welcome to the website dedicated to the Government of Canada 2022 Public Opinion Research on Accessibility being conducted by Quorus Consulting Group.

On this website, you can obtain information on the purpose and scope of this research, how you can participate and who you can contact if you have any questions.

Why is the Government of Canada conducting this public opinion research?

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)’s Accessible Canada Directorate has engaged Quorus Consulting Group to conduct a survey measuring Canadians’ awareness and experience(s) with barriers to accessibility for persons with disabilities.

The results of the survey will be used to help shape future accessibility policy in the Government of Canada. If you would like to contact someone at ESDC regarding this study, please email ACCESSIBLE.CANADA.DIRECTORATE-DIRECTION.CANADA.ACCESSIBLE@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca.

Who can participate in the survey?

The study is open to all Canadian residents who are 18 years of age or older. People with disabilities can access a variety of alternate formats to complete the survey (see below). Survey interviewers will randomly call members of the general population and ask them to complete the survey by phone.

Why are you calling me about this? I am not a person with a disability.

Barriers to accessibility can have an impact on just about anybody. We want to learn about what people who don’t have a disability have observed in terms of barriers to accessibility.

How long will the survey take and will my feedback remain anonymous?

The survey should take about 15 minutes of your time, depending on how much feedback you want to provide. Your decision to participate is up to you and will not affect your relationship with the Government of Canada or the services they provide you in any way. Furthermore, your responses will be kept entirely confidential and anonymous - no individual respondents will be identified as part of the analysis and the information provided will be managed according to the requirements of the Privacy Act.

The Government of Canada will publish the survey findings within six months of completion of fieldwork through the Library of Parliament and Library and Archives Canada. To learn more about how the Government of Canada makes research results available, please visit: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/porr/Pages/porr.aspx.
